We produce documentary films for non-profit organizations.
The purpose of these films is to:
- Inform potential donors of the positive change being brought about by non-profit organizations and the immediate needs they face.
- Expose these organizations to national and international audiences by entering the documentaries into film festivals, and by hosting them online.
- Raise funds for the organizations by collecting donations at premiere events, film festival screenings, and through an online donation platform.
The Business of Saving Lives will be making it’s film festival debut next week at the Southern Utah Documentary Film Festival (Docutah) in St. George, UT. With 4 screenings scheduled during the 9-day festival, this is a great opportunity to bring the film back to St. George, which is one of three communities profiled in the film, and start a much needed conversation about their animal welfare situation.
During the festival Scott Brigante, the film’s director, will be introducing the film and doing post-screening Q&A’s on Friday, 9/16 at both the Electric Theater at 1:00 PM, and the DSC Eccles Main Stage on the Dixie State College Campus at 7:00 PM. Mr. Brigante will also be participating in a seminar on Thursday, 9/15 at the Eccles Performing Arts Center Sears Gallery from 2-4 PM. For more information on the Docutah festival, including tickets and scheduling, please visit their web site by clicking here.
The Business of Saving Lives has also been accepted to the 20th Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival in Hot Springs, AR. This prestigious festival draws audiences from around the country, and will provide a wonderful opportunity to screen The Business of Saving Lives in front of distributors, television executives, and documentary fans alike. More information on the festival will be posted here as soon as it’s made available.
The Business of Saving Lives is ready for the big screen! It’s been just over a year since Reel to Real first came to Helen Woodward Animal Center to discuss making a documentary, and the months of production and post-production have finally paid off.
Right now we’re busy submitting The Business of Saving Lives to film festivals like The Blue Planet Film Festival and DocUtah, and planning our official premier here in San Diego.
The premier for The Business of Saving Lives will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Queen Bee’s Art and Cultural Center in North Park. More information about the premier will be posted soon, but be sure to mark your calendars!
Since April, Reel to Real has been working on a project with Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, California. They are a one-of-a-kind animal center complete with a no-kill adoption department, pet boarding, child education programs, a therapeutic riding program, a pet encounter therapy program, a full service equine hospital, and more.
Our three months of shooting brought us to St. George, Utah and Kingman, Arizona where we followed transports of rescued dogs to Helen Woodward. It was great to see the incredible lengths these wonderful people go to in order to save these dogs lives. We’ve go one more trip planned for September where will will travel 1,800 miles all the way to Mississippi to follow one last transport from the St. Francis Animal Sanctuary. But in the meantime we’ve got some editing to do, so keep an eye out for the first cut of our trailer, which should be up in a day or two.
After two months of shooting at Helen Woodward Animal Center next week Reel to Real will be traveling to St. George, Utah to follow a transport of about 40 dogs and puppies from Utah to San Diego. We will be working with P.A.W.S. (Providing Animals With Support). P.A.W.S. is one of over 10 shelters that transport rescue animals to Helen Woodward – the only place they feel these animals will be treated properly.
The extraordinary lengths that shelters like P.A.W.S. go to in order to ensure the health and safety of rescued dogs and cats is a great testament to the work being done at Helen Woodward Animal Center, and we couldn’t be happier to start working with them.
After the trip to Utah we will be traveling to Arizona and then all the way to Mississippi to follow transports. Stay tuned for more info!
